About Imbolc

Imbolc is a cross-quarter holiday—celebrated in the Celtic tradition—that typically falls on February 1 here in the northern hemisphere. Groundhog Day follows close on its heels and has a kindred spirit of anticipation. Both holidays have us contemplating where we stand, at the middle point between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox. In our evenly divided calendar, based on the movement of the Earth in relation to the Sun, this date falls between these two celebrations, becoming its own. On the wheel of the year, it falls opposite Lughnasadh or Lammas, the Harvest. In its opposition it represents the time of getting ready to plant seeds, seeds that will become responsive to the increasingly brightening days. The next cross-quarter holiday is Beltane, also known as May Day. This is the time we are also anticipating, the quickening, and the awakening of the sensual that comes with the time of fertility.

We continue to dream in this time of Imbolc, where we are at Midwinter. In some corner of our minds, there is recognition that all is change and there is the inner faith and knowing that the light is returning. There’s a stirring of warmth in the belly, that fire begins to burn brighter. We see it in the skies as day grows into the slowly waning night.

I look forward to see you and sharing the light with you!

Creative Waves of Energy and Light with Healing Plant Spirits

It is time to explore creative waves of energy within us through plant spirits as we scout, transfer and set in motion inside our inner vital force.

The spirits of healing plants speak to us when we tap into their light frequency. Through the heart and our energy body we perceive the waves being sent to us by these wise beings. Being in their presence, calling to or being called by them, we are transformed.

Each plant has a unique gift that manifests as healing in our being - for example some open our receptivity, some adjust our focus, some encourage our voices, some fortify our will and spirit.

Discover the abstract way of our senses and open up your perception to relate to that part of your creative universal self through shamanic journeys.

In shamanism we learn to become the hollow bone in which we channel the creative waves unfolds. An exploration of our vast being and substance of our psychic inner seeds. Our cosmic connection to all worlds is able to manifest and change our energy into pure movement within our lives. Let us flower into a multi-dimensional space.

Learn about and tune into these waves of energy and light within us all!

Casting Light on Our Shadows With Healing Plant Allies

Casting Light on Our Shadows With Healing Plant Allies

Online With Irma StarSpirit Turtle Woman and Liz Neves

We all have those aspects of our selves that lie hidden from our daily awareness, perhaps parts that we find less than desirable or that we do not immediately wish to identify with. Carl Jung would call this our shadow. When we sweep our shadows under the rug, the greater the pull it has on our lives. Simply put, when we accept and even embrace our shadows, we are able to live with more freedom and flow.

There are many paths to shadow exploration, and if you are familiar or in process with this work, there are herbs that can help you navigate these hidden aspects of our selves. Join us as we explore the herbal allies that light the way to self-discovery and expansion.

Explore through shamanic journey to discover personal freedom from past accumulated memories. Clearing memories, letting go of preconceptions and the belief systems that work through illusion of recognition. Freedom from the past means living in the "Now" movement.

In the Toltec tradition exploring the shadow self is known as the Art of Stalking is a way to find your own inner freedom from conditioning of the past within the known and the unknown. Awakening to clear perceptions and begin to understand yourself in much deeper levels. We welcome looking within and with the use of recapitulation to look within our life into those places that have left us with a feeling of being frozen, examples of pain, fear, jealousy, rage, lack of control, sadness and much more. Although the shadow self is undesirable to face but understanding that is part of you and crucial to understand for your development of health and wellness.

We will be journeying to these parts and discover new place of wholeness and healing.

Healing Plant Walk, February

It’s February, and the plants are beginning to stir. The light is noticeably returning and the tree buds are fattening. Who do we see peeking out of the ground?

Let us gather, safely, wearing masks, outside to walk the land, to meet the medicine plants in their late winter forms. Anytime is a great time to learn how to identify plants. And to learn how to harvest medicine even in winter. We'll end the gathering with a plant connection meditation.

Please dress for the weather. Bring what you need to be comfortable (water, snacks, layers). And bring a journal if you’d like.

We’ll meet at the Flatbush Avenue entrance to Prospect Park near the carousel and Lefferts House. (Here’s a pin on the map.)

To keep our numbers small, I'm limiting the number of tickets available.

$25 or pay what you can options available. Click Buy Now for $25 ticket, and Donate for pay-what-you-can option.

Healing Plant Walk, Winter Edition

Let us gather, safely, wearing masks, outside to walk the land, to meet the medicine plants in their winter guises. We’ll spy dried leaves, brown seeds, shriveled fruit, and bare limbs. There will be some green here and there to witness, too! It’s a great time to learn how to identify plants any time of year. And to learn how to harvest medicine even in winter. We'll end the gathering with a plant connection meditation.

Solstice Healing Plant Walk and Meditation

Celebrate the return of the Sun!

The Winter Solstice marks the turning point from deepest creative darkness to rejuvenating light. Even though we are now heading into winter, the coldest part of the year, we can look forward to the slow returning of the daylight hours. The darker days are beautiful for turning inward, for dreaming deeply, for rest. And yet, like little seeds germinating in the dark womb of the earth, we crave and turn toward the sun.

Let us gather, safely, wearing masks, outside to walk the land, to meet the medicine plants in their winter guises. We’ll spy dried leaves, brown seeds, shriveled fruit, and bare limbs. Casting Light on Our Shadows With Healing Plant Allies

Casting Light on Our Shadows With Healing Plant Allies

Cost: $45
